Don't depend upon this book alone when you visit Zion National Park. It's trail guides are accurate but pretty general. For example, we (60 year olds in mixed fitness) found the times stated as completion time for each trail to be very inaccurate...but maybe we just walk fast. The trail guides are conveniently grouped as to how long you will be hiking; one day visit, three day visit, etc. The book includes descriptions of all sides of the park, not just the over populated south and east sides. Lots of good information about what to look for as far as landscape features, animals, and plants. This book also includes trails that other books, and our maps didn't mention, however we just marked those suggested trails on our maps, then used only the maps during our stay. This book is a good book to read first for an overview of the park.
P.S. We loved Zion National Park, and the Narrows were absolutely the best part. There are some lovely formations on the way to Kanab. Don't miss Bryce Canyon (but don't hike down into the canyon unless you are FIT and ACCLIMATED to the altitude.)

The product, used, was in near new condition and a bargain. A good intro (only), the content was not much more than what I already knew, since I am fairly familiar with Zion and was looking for more.

I was disappointed in this book. I was hoping to get more information about the park but this book is only about the hikes you can take in the park. I am not a big hiker so it wasn't useful to me at all. Should be titiled "Everything you wanted to know about hikes in Zion".

Terrible book - no helpful information
My family and I have visited Zion in the past and it is a wonderful place. However, this book is just magnificent!! We are now in the process of visiting many many more areas in which we have not hiked and explored! It is so informative and exciting that I think it is an awesome read and so very helpful in planning our hikes in the park. Anyone who is interested in finding out the many possibilites and adventures that are waiting to be seen, Ron Kay's book is a must have for everyone!!
