Forty classic rides through the region’s quintessential scenes

*

With its spectacular and varied scenes, no other region of America can best the Pacific Northwest when it comes to motorcycle touring—whether a Sunday afternoon ride with friends or a multiday adventure. Now, with Motorcycle Touring in the Pacific Northwest, bikers have an unparalleled guide describing forty classic rides across the quintessential landscapes of Oregon, Washington, and Vancouver/British Columbia—from the rugged Pacific coast to breathtaking islands, from rain forests to deserts, from the Cascades to the Rockies.

In friendly prose peppered with anecdotes, sidebars, and interesting asides, Christy Karras and Steve Zusy describe the routes—most representing a day’s worth of riding—and include a map for each, color photographs, and details aplenty on road conditions and terrain, sites worth stopping for, amenities, and side trips.

This is what a tour guide for mc's should be. It was an interesting read for anybody desiring to travel to the Pacific NWE, wether by bike or car, tho it's geared to the biker. It's specific on gas stops, distances, off the beaten path sights, and provides the riders eye view of the route. It was also written in an engaging style, which I found almost as enjoyable as a novel. You are literaly in the rider's seat on the road with the authors. I would read any travel books by these two authors. Well illustrated, one of the author's is a professional photographer. Each recommended tour has maps, total miles, as well as the narrative and photos. I have already re-read sections, and find myself drawn to the areas described. I recommend it highly, and hope for others in the series (I have the SW and the NW) .

I've lived in western Washington all my life. I was looking for new things here I've never done before. The majority of these trips I've done before. I would recommend this for people that aren't familiar or haven't lived in the area for a long time.

I live in WA and probably know over 1/2 of these rides already but still bought the book after checking it out first at the library. Lotta good stuff in here!

I don't ride a motorcycle to impress you or anyone else!!! I ride for the feeling of freedom I get while I am twisting the throttle down some windy road. This book tells you where to go to experience this freedom, when you are in Oregon, Washington, or British Colombia. My kids live in Seattle Washington, and you can bet this book will be in my saddlebags, if I ride my bike out to see them!!!

If you live in or near the Pacific Northwest and ride a motorcycle, you should probably have this book in your collection. It not only gives you suggestions of wonderful scenic routes, but it lists the best places to stop and mentions places that should probably be avoided.

Bought this as a gift for my Dad, ended up reading it myself. Always love exploring the Northwest Coast and this book just added to my excitement of it. Great side notes about restaurants, beach stops, and a details about each location. Directions to waterfall stops along the Columbia River and what to see along the Cascades. It even hits on the San Juan Islands! SO much to see in the Northwest and this book touches on it all. I feel like planning a little get a way and I don't even ride....but I'm thinking that may be a fun way to check out this area.

Very detailed and well documented travel book by experienced riders for riders looking to travel these areas.
Rarely do I write a 5 star review, but this touring book is perfect for those who want to check out the abundance of great rides throughout the northwest. Good writing, great maps and pictures
