Spider-Man: Death and Dating is a much better book than its title suggests. Instead of poorly crafted love stories and one off ideas designed to embarrass the hero, Death and Dating is a collection of separate stories from the post "Brand New Day" era.

The Shocker-centric issues drawn by Marcos Martin are outstanding. The dialog is snappy throughout the entire book. However this is a collection of about three separate ideas bundled together for sake of concentric issue numbers. That being said, I still highly recommend this book to any spider-fan.
What ever happened to that ol' mattress head The Shocker? Well he's a hitman for hire and during an unscheduled stop on the subway: Spider-man, The Shocker and his 'hits' have to work together if they want to leave the subway tunnels alive.

In "Fill in the Blank" Spider-Man faces the one bank robber he can't web up; The Blank. Name sound familiar or are you drawing a blank? Don't worry if you don't remember this old school villain-- they'll fill you in on who he is and his path through out the marvel universe. I can't say that I was satisfied with how Spider-Man 'wrapped' things up in what felt like a filler comic.

How did Harry Osborn return from the dead? Why was Oscorp experimenting on Freak? What happen to Charlie Weiderman after "Skin Deep"? All these questions answered and more in "Mind on Fire" not the usual ASM comic formula, but this story arc gives a fantastic incite into Harry's life. Even without the fight between The Molten Man and Spider-Man this script is pretty [email protected] amazing.

Finally this Graphic novel wraps up with a story told from the POV of Betty Brant and dives into her relationship with Peter Parker. It doesn't sound like it will be that great of a script, but it isn't anything short of Amazing.
This post Brand New Day Spider-Man is starting to get real good. It is quickly taking up my book shelf as these books come out often. Definilty recommend this book for Spidey fans and I am liking the direction that this series is taking.
The book itself was not bad, but I realized that it isn't the over 400 pages that it is listed as, it's actually around 160-200 pages. ( I didn't really count) which makes sense seeing how it only contains six issues. Never the less the story itself was not bad; but someone should get that number fixed as it is quite deceiving
