I read this book as a child and loved it. But as an avid Sweet Valley fan, there wasn't a single SV book I WOULDN'T read. A few weeks ago, after reuniting with my former love (Sweet Valley of course) I decided to re-read this series. And this book did not disappoint. It's completely over the top, ridiculous, and borrows heavily from Beverly Hills 90210 (see the Steve Sanders fraternity story, where he steals a valued item from a professor and gets caught), but it is still so much fun. Jessica is up to her old tricks, getting in trouble, and finally out of the shadow of her ruined marriage. William White is secretly stalking Elizabeth, and waiting for his perfect moment to strike. And Celine is being... well Celine. The bad girl from Georgia just can't stay away from crazy Willie. But best of all is the beginning of Luce (Lila/Bruce) who have crashed their plane in the tops of the Sierra Nevada. How are these two pampered snobs going to survive the wilderness? And will they fall in love along the way? What book could be more fun? None I tell you!
Review of Sweet Valley: Sorority Scandal
Hot Toasty Rag, May 14, 2017

Up until now, there has been hardy any mention of Lila Fowler, and those who grew up with the Sweet Valley gang may have missed her. The wait is over!

Lila and the equally snobbish Bruce Patman (remember him from the childhood books?) find themselves stranded in the mountains after a plane crash, and the banter, survival attempts, and character growth is incredibly enjoyable. No spoilers here; they start off the book about to crash. I found myself just as much, if not more, engrossed in Lila's and Bruce's struggle than with Jessica's and Elizabeth's troubles, which is the true sign of a well-written book.

Meanwhile, the twins find themselves entangled in a silly--but serious to them--battle with Jessica's sorority. A sideline of the "sorority scandal" is Elizabeth's relationship with her teacher. For those of you who were waiting for one of the girls to get into a little less-than-legal trouble, don't skip this volume in the SVU series!
I really love this series, and especially the rivalry between Jess and Alison. I really hope that Alison gets her comuppance at some point in the series. I thought that Lila and Bruce were so cute together. The one thing that puzzles me about this book is the cover. Is it just me, or is the writing on the sweater that 'Jessica' is wearing, back-to-front?
Jessica and her schemes are really cracking me up! Right now she's got the perfect chance to get back into the Theta sorority- but does she really want to be part of these girls? It was really difficult to guess what happens, so it keeps you turning the pages. I reccomend it if you're keeping up with SVU
