However, this book didn't help me learn much I hadn't found out experimenting on my own. The examples are too simplistic, using Poser-provided figures, clothes, and poses. Things I wanted to know--like how I'm supposed to know what to pair other clothing to, and how to do my own poses without winding up with the figure's leg through his head aren't in this book.

If you're a raw beginner who likes step-by-step references when starting a new program, you'll appreciate this book. But if you're someone like me who just dives into a new program and futzes around with it 'till they learn how to use it, and only buys books on the program when you're absolutely mad with frustration, I don't think this book will help.
easy lessons reveal how to for beginners who maybe using poser software without help.
i didnt have java to display the poser help guide. so i got this book and it has showed
lots of usefull information. i have poser 2010 and this poser 8 book works with the
interface. the chapters are extensive and it is a thick book! including animation, hair,
materials, bones, cameras, lighting, morphing, faces, talking, rigging, controls and more!
thanks kelly murdock for a value-able book.
Great for the beginner. But by now Poser 7 is years out of publication, and it's moved on and evolved, naturally.
The book is very good, nice and understandable, taking you through the elements of the program as you'd experience them. The software isn't anywhere near as intimidating when this book is in hand.
get it! Recommended by Carlos Araiza
Lots of reference info for a great piece of software. Lots of reference info for a great piece of software.
When I received my copy of the book the binding had come apart as someone else mentioned. I ignored this and pressed the glued edges back together. While looking the book over I discovered that Chapter 5 was in the book twice and there was no Chapter 6 to be found! I am not sure if there are other mistakes like this as I don't have time to check. I am shipping it back and getting a replacement. Hopefully all of the pages will be there.
I have seen some complaints on this book but I bought it anyway. I found this book to be very useful in learning the information I wanted to know about. It was fun to learn of the little known "secrets" of poser. I found this book to be well written, relaying the information without a lot of fluff you don't need.
