Best fly tying book ever written for beginner and intermediate fly tiers is Charlie Craven's "Basic Fly Tying". I was a wantta be fly tier and happened upon the Basic Fly Tying book--it was just what I needed. "Charlie's Fly Box" is a great follow-up to that book. More fly patterns and information about their origins and how to fish them. If you tie flies or want to start doing so, then these two books will provide the information and instructions you need.

great book, but why is it not available on kindle?
Not compatible for some reason, and this is NOT made clear when purchasing.
Can only view it on the desktop computer and can't take the E book with you on a Kindle, tablet or phone...defeats the purpose a bit. Wishing i would have gotten the print version. Love the book, the patterns are great, but format is not so hot.

Enjoyed this book. As always, Charlie offers very clear tutorials for tying some great flies. But, the best parts may be his descriptions of the creative process resulting in the fly and how to fish it. With Charlie's easy manner, and subtle humor, this book is a great read even if you never tie one of the flies.

This book is just as great as the first book.Read this book and you will be a better tyer.I have tied flies for over 20 years, but after seeing Charlie's books...honestly my flies are pretty crappy! The photos and instruction are fantastic, get the book you won't regret it!!

As usual, Charlie's directions and photos are first class. Not a lot of patterns but a lot of useful info and techniques. Glad I got it.

While I have not yet had a chance to try the patterns in this book, they seem to have that look that just tells you this thing is going to catch fish. Not for the traditionalist, as they are new and creative, or the dry fly purist, with only one hopper and two dry patterns, but full of things like the "Two Bit Hooker", the "Mugly Caddis", the "Caddistrophic Pupa", or the "Lead Eyed Gonga". I'm really looking forward to tying these things up and seeing if I can beat my regular old patterns with them
Excellent. Charlie's detailed photos and step-by-step directions make this book easy to follow. It's a great sequel to his first book and a bit more advanced.
