by Jim Rearden,Ray Tremblay

Take to the air with veteran bush pilot and game warden Ray Tremblay in these lively adventure stories of Alaska’s early game-law enforcement. During a career spanning nearly thirty years, Tremblay earned the respect of his fellow pilots and game cops, as well as biologists, trappers, hunters, and fishermen who appreciated his sincere concern for the protection and wise use of the fish and wildlife in the Territory, then State of Alaska. Gifted with good humor, common sense, and uncommon storytelling ability, Tremblay offers two dozen remarkable first-person accounts that are worthy of laugh-aloud and read-aloud status—to the guy in the next room.

This book met every expectation that I had it would have. Mr. Tremblay talks about his experiences in the latter years of the territory. The stories told, the relationships cemented, and the challenges they faced in preserving our wildlife was good to read. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in hunting, conservation, and law enforcement.
Ray provides a good overview of the challenges and adventures he faced in his wildlife enforcement career in Alaska. I'm a pilot; hence I enjoyed Ray telling his stories from a flying game warden's perspective. A good portion of the book conveys flying-related experiences--hence you'll enjoy the book more if you are a pilot and/or if you enjoy reading about plane "stuff."
What an incredible read! Mr. Tremblay takes you through his experiences of flying the Alaska wilderness when Alaska was first a territory, and then a new state. His passion for the wildlife of this state is evident and his storytelling lively. His piloting stories are especially gripping. A former negative reviewer (Anaheim) is very much uninformed, and I have to wonder if he really read the book or is just commenting for some political merit. Mr. Tremblay earned great respect in Alaska for his dedication to wildlife management. This is true adventure at its best.
A very good book, lots of interesting tales from a time forgotten.
I purchased On Patrol this summer and bought another copy for another pilot as a gift. This book is great, it covers the old Alaska, (prior to statehood) and has several great pilot stories, (way before GPS and even VOR's). This is a must read for the history of Alaska along with great pilot stories, (the author does a great job explaining flying - you don't need to be a pilot to understand the book). This is one of the best books I have ever read!
All about an Alaskan Game Warden's life in the early years of statehood. Best read in a warm log cabin during a snow storm!
This book was more then I expected. It kept your interest thru out the entire book and seemed to get better as it went on. Highly recomended for anyone that like wilde life books
Dull, information not new to me. Great book to put you to sleep. The title is misleading in that I was seeking an Alaskan adventure story or stories for the author.
