I got through the first part but then I just had to find out more about it before I could decide if I wanted to continue. I just discovered this author and read through her "Against" books, enjoying the way she spins a yarn. But this book didn't seem as if it had been written by the same person.
The web page I found about The Silent Rose had mixed reader reviews, but I also found the answer to my question. The book was written over 20 years ago under a pen name. It's a reissue brought out of moth balls and released under her real name to take advantage of the reputation she has earned as her writing improved.
I just hate that! The only reason you buy it is because of the quality of an author's later work. The book is a huge disappointment. Buyers should be made aware of the fact that a book is a reissue so they can decide if they want to risk it.

even though this is a reprint, i never read this one, and based on readers reviews, expected MUCH more - this was a bleh story- so predictable after page 2 i know already the entire plot, where it was going and how it would end. Was not at all an exciting read, and i still can't see how this became a story with "ghosts" - it just didn't come together - i cannot believe it got so many good reviews - REVIEWERS! GET YOUR STANDARDS UP.
It seems so many books lately getting good review that do not deserve more than a 3 rating. This one did not do it for me - and lately i find no interest in her books. Like Nora Roberts - too many, too little. No more from these authors -

I always love Kat Martin stories. This is the second of the trilogy that I have read and its very interesting to know these things really happen. The on again off again romance between Devon and Jonathan is a lot like real life. I knew this was a reprint when I bought it and a brilliant book.

The only complaint I have is the editing. Burn is bum, corner is comer. For some reason the rn with this typists was a problem but I am sure someone will know who to contract to fix the problem and it no how takes away from the story. I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I did.

Love your imagination Kat.

Another thrilling love story from Kat Martin. The story is very intense in parts as long as you can get past the lack of editing. (Many rn words ie; corner, were spelled with m) It drove me crazy, but the story was very good and there were a couple heartbreaking scenes and I felt tears coursing down my face. A definite must read, I'm hoping the other two books in her trilogy have no spelling issues.

This is a book from her earlier writings that I rarely purchase. I do not purchase earlier writings for many reasons...I have read it before, the author is early in their career...etc.

Yet this novel is good, she brings you into her story....

I have thoroughly enjoyed this novel by Kat Martin.

I was skeptical about reading a book about the paranormal, but I was pleasantly surprised. This was very well written and I couldn't put the book down. You fell in love with the characters and all they had endured. I absolutely loved this book and can't wait to read The Dream next.

I love Kat Martin. I get everything I can find by her. Her books grab you from the very beginning and reel you in for the dramatic finish. I always hate to tell someone about the plot, sometimes it ruins it for them. This is definitely a MUST READ!!!!
Great story!
