The angel and the professor

Gemma may not have been the prettiest girl in town, but she was something better--kind and conscientious, which made her a wonderful caregiver. To her patients she really was a gem of a girl! So when she unexpectedly found herself out of work, Ross, a distinguished professor, readily asked her to accompany him to Holland to look after his invalid sister. Gemma accepted--even though she knew Ross was never likely to see her as anything more than just his sister's nurse. . .

I love all the old fashioned sweet romances by Betty Neels. I read them all many years ago and am now reading them for the 2nd and even 3rd times on my Kindle. She wrote them all on a formula. Usually a romance between a Dutch doctor or professor and an English young lady. There is always some type of conflict that has to be settled before the happily ever after. No violence and no sexual content.
On of TGB' s better works. Gemma, a plain, plump PBN lives with her large and loving family. She acts as parent to the 4 younger siblings as their parents died 5 years previously. She meets Ross, our RDD, and he falls instantly , she does not and he works his charm and magic on her. Loved Gemma and Ross, the families were wonderful, and the villain boo- worthy. Great read.
All Betty Neels books are written along a handful of storylines wth interchangeable characters, but I enjoy reading them anyway. This one is the same with the exception that the shallow guy leading our heroine on for no other reason than to make her fall in love with him as a cruel joke lasted longer than I have seen in others written by Mrs. Neels. Still if you like her work, you will like this book.
her books are always a good read, especially if you like a good romance with out overdoses of sexual content or violence. the situations that happen are every day things that happen to all of us
I have found this book to be romantic and a wonderful read.I have read it 3 times because I enjoyed it so much.
I enjoyed this book very much. Betty Neels' writing reminds me of Agatha Christie's writing. It's as if Agatha were writing about a different subject than murder.
Her books are simple and can be read very quickly. Just a nice clean romance
It was a sweet love story full of action and adventures.
