This is the second book in Rhonda Nelson's "Men Out of Uniform" series. At first, I found Brian Payne to be slightly boring and domineering. He seemed to be incapable of humor or light-heartedness, and I found him a bit two-dimensional. Then he meets Emma Langford, who is resourceful and plucky. I loved how Nelson turned Payne's seemingly stoic personality into a drive to one-up Emma at every turn. Emma is the perfect foil for Payne, and her intuitiveness for why he's on this "mission" plays well into the twist at the end. My one and only hesitation with giving this 5 stars is the idea through the entire book that Payne resolves to never fall in love or get involved in anything long-term. His change of heart just seemed a bit too quick for me. But overall, I found this book to be a great follow-up to "The Player" and a heart-warming story of love and selflessness.

Fell in love with the characters. It was funny and sweet and sexy all at the same time. I love Rhonda Nelson's characters!

Overall, I would suggest reading this book...AFTER you have read the first book in the series:The Player (Harlequin Blaze) They are amazing. However, they are not "New York Times Best Sellers." They are romance novels with detailed sex scenes and semi-predictable plots. I happen to enjoy those kinds of books while on car trips or at the beach, so I loved it. However, if you don't enjoy those books or are offended by sex scenes, don't bother.

That book had been my guilty pleasure for years. Back when I hadn't come out as an avid romance reader. Seriously, it's one of the best books ever written! A delicious alpha male, a kick-ass heroine, smokin' hot love scenes, a great big HEA. I've tried other titles by the same author but they were nowhere near this one. I recommend it 100%

I really like this author so far she writes a good romantic tale with friends that build the story.I also appreciate the honor she gives our military ,they deserve the best of everything our country has to offer for what they have to sacrifice for us.

My wife buys a lot of books through the internet. I order them for her. We like Amazon.com as we can usually find any book we are looking for and get it quickly and at a very good price. The quality has always been as described and we have always been satisfied just as we are with this one.

Many years ago in high school, a friend of mine was reading this book and it dawned on her that the main character in this book (Brian Payne) IS MY NAME.....now surely there are many Brian Paynes in the world, but I will tell you this, as I am writing this very review, I am in afghanistan. I have been in the army going on 5 years, and while im not a Major, I am a specialist. And I do like to pride myself on my abilities between the sheets. This is not coincidence, this is fate. You wrote a book about me, just like that movie Stranger Than Fiction, this is AWESOME.

Very fun book. First you have to get past the first chapter setting up this second book in this series. But as soon as the main characters meet, it picks up. Brian and Emma have a good spark and the humor is intelligent. The only thing I found really tiresome is Brian's self-flagellation over his friend's death.
This is a really good love story it's the 2nd book of 3 in the series and there all great I laughed at this one quite a bit.
