JUST DO IT
Be aware that THIS BOOK IS NOT THE COMPLETE WORKS OF GEORGE WHITEFIELD. It is a photocopy of only Volume 5 of the 1772 Edinburg edition of Whitefield's works. This book does NOT contain "All His Sermons and Tracts", as the title clearly claims. If you are looking for a complete set of Whitefield's sermons and writings, this is NOT it. It is only the fifth volume of his multi-volume Works.

This 474-page large-format paperback book is a photocopy of Volume 5 of a very early edition of Whitefield's works. The photocopyist appears to have obtained the original volume from the New York Public Library Reference Department (the library's checkout form is photocopied on the book's final page).

This book does NOT have modern typesetting, so IT IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO READ for modern readers. The old-fashion typesetting includes the "long 's'" that looks (to modern readers) to be an uncrossed "f", and all of the other archaic typesetting conventions that were popular in the late Eighteenth century. Also, because book this is a photocopy, the slight water-damage and occasional missing page corners in the almost 240 year-old original volume are visible. A very small portion of the text is therefore warped, illegible, or missing entirely.

Although handsome and well bound, this single volume is only of interest to collectors of really old, rare books who can't find (or can't afford) an original copy of Volume 5 of the 1772 Edinburg edition of Whitefield's works. Unless you already have the other volumes in the set, however, buying this book won't give you a complete set of Whitefield's works.

Whitefield's sermons and writings are of incalculable value for every generation that has succeeded the years of the Great Awakening, but the vast majority of 21st century readers would profit far more by obtaining them in a modern font, with modern typesetting conventions.
