This book helps parents deal with the grief of and practical issues related to having a child with a disability or handicap "challenge". It gives practical advice on just aboutall areas and is an excellent read. I keep a copy on my shelf to loan to those whose children are newly diagnosed and when it is not returned because the borrower loves it so much, I quietly replace it.
LONUDOG
On the money. Therapeutic for any parent who has had to cope with the diagnosis of a child with a serious disability or illness. An assertion that there is joy and life after the initial grief and shock.

This is the first book I read after finding about my son's condition. It will not help you to find the "cure" or "treatment" for your child. It will help you cope & understand.

I bought this book because every professor in my special education classes said that it would help us understand where parents come from when we teach their students. It was easy to read and I marked it up so much with things I could take with me when I had a classroom that I consider it a great book. I plan on using all my marked sections to help me connect with parents and even recommend it to parents or siblings who might feel alone.
