An excellent resource and training manual. It explains the theory behind calligraphy: The Roman alphabet is based on abstract geometric design. And all Roman alphabet letters are founded on two forms: The straight line and the circle--the I and the O. (Does that sound familiar to the programmers amongst us?) Rather than pressing the reader to pursue endless rote exercises, one is presented with these basic concepts that make learning calligraphy much faster.
This is a very intelligently written, theory-based educational tome.
If you have limited time (and who isn't time-restricted?) and if you want to make a prudent investment in learning elegant script and to improve your writing, this is by far the best choice on the market.
I highly recommend this book as the only one you will need.
Excellent resource-- a serious reference with considerable space devoted to stroke practice and drills.
