James C. McKinney (19211998), late Distinguished Professor of Voice and Dean of the School of Church Music of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, has an established reputation as an authority in the area of voice pedagogy. I got out my classic Richard Miller "the structure of singing" and found that he discusses many of the same concepts in a way that is less helpful and relevant for communicating practical help to my amateur, high school, students. I find a lot of vocal books get overly technical and it can be very difficult to understand. This book is very informative, approachable, and helpful. I'm very glad I purchased it!
