Every once in a great while an artist emerges who does more than simply reflect the social trends of the time. These artists are able to transcend established thinking and help us redefine ourselves and our world. Today, a growing number of art critics, philosophers and spiritual seekers believe they have found that vision in the art of Alex Grey. The Alex Grey 2012 Wall Calendar takes the viewer on a graphic, visionary journey through the physical, metaphysical and spiritual anatomy of the self. Grey's portrayals of human beings blend scientific exactitude with depictions of universal life energy, leading us on the soul's journey from material world encasement to recovery of our divinely illuminated core. Alex Grey is the author of Transfigurations, Sacred Mirrors and The Mission of Art. His work has graced the album covers of TOOL, Nirvana and the Beastie Boys, and has been exhibited around the world.

The interior pages of this calendar are printed on 100% recycled, 50% post-consumer paper, processed chlorine free and printed with soy based inks. I bought this to bring in the new year of 2012. It was delivered at a reasonable date and I absolutely loved this calendar at first sight. I have no regrets about it at all. Every month this calendar delivers a spectacular illustration that simply captivates for that entire month and beyond. I probably won't throw it away when it's obsolete.

Although string theory isn't my forte and I also don't fully understand the related references made out by musical band known as Tool -I'm nonetheless fascinated by these images and appreciate them all the same. I'm sure anyone could. It's really beautiful.
This is an awesome calendar. It's definitely a collectors item. I gave it to my boyfriend for Christmas 7 years ago and he still has it hanging in a special spot.
Truly an extraordinary artist, a gift that will please all year in beauty and function. Being in the medical field myself, I can attest that every vein and artery and bone are properly placed on those pages allowing a transparency into the body, of both human and animal (not all months have those type photos but are still nevertheless original pieces of art). I bought for one of my more open-minded doctors and also one for myself. Highly recommended.
I have experienced - over the last 40 years - many of the states so eloquently portrayed and described by Mr Grey. These are states that go beyond the verbal consensual validations we use to describe things in our everyday speech. These are exceptionally prescient glimpses into a land beyond our 3-dimensional atomic structure, and what is so wonderful is that these universal truths are not limited by religion. It is not necessary to "be" a Buddhist, a Hindu, etc. My "Collective Vision," so similar in its representation of a spiritual 'collective unconscious,' is in no way dimmed because I hold the resurrected Messiah in my heart. These are precious truths, and we are fortunate to behold this art.
My own journey out of schizophrenia holds many of these images as signposts ([...])
This is an astonishingly beautiful calendar filled with the varied works of master artist, Alex Grey. For those unfamiliar with Grey, check Wiki. For everyone else, this is a great way to showcase Grey's amazing work, the whole year round. Open your mind and get this calendar which depicts an expansion of the human experience in this mortal coil.
I get one of these calendars every year. I love the pictures. The only reason I would give it four stars instead of five is because they do reuse some of the previous years pictures. But overall a great calendar to look at.
Alex Grey's calendars are beautiful and fascinating with endless detail you come back to again and again. Great for psychonauts, the spiritual, those interested in the human form, or anyone. But I had to give only 4 stars for the 2012 because it has no descriptions of the art as the 2011 did for each month. I feel ripped off that I will not have Alex's view of what his art portrays or his poetry each month.
I purchase Alex Grey's calendar every year. The art work is great the calendar is always worth the price. If you're a fan of Alex's work, these calendars will not disappoint.
