A must have book for the figure artist, mainly the male nude figure, shows insight you won't find anywhere else! Combine with Jack Hamms Human Anatomy for beginners.
Wasn't crazy about this; not useful.
just one girl
Wonderfully vigorous and detailed notations of the human body.
One of my most cherished art anatomy books! Next best thing after viewing the original anatomy plates at my local library!
This is one of my favorite anatomy books. William Rimmer was a doctor first. He new anatomy. This book is a collection of his drawings and notes about the human form. One aspect I find really fascinating is his insights into drawing the person' character by their face. Some of his face studies include: animalistic, pride, malicious, and others. The guy must of seen many suffering people come in to the doctors office in his time. The book also includes muscles of the body, etc that all figure drawing books have.
I would give this shaky, racist book no stars if I could. Rimmer, while undoubtedly a product of his time, let eugenics and racism distort his observation of the human form. His detailed neo-scientific "comparisons" of the heads of humans, and the physiognomies of different races is repellent and inaccurate--the other reviewers here are either as ignorant or racist as Rimmer was.

As an artist, I know the past was filled with questionable ideas on race, but Rimmer's actual anatomy drawings are incoherent. There are many great, current anatomy books out there for artists. Please buy one of them.
