by Diana Kendall

This cutting-edge, applied book highlights the relevance of sociology by including a diverse collection of theories, research, and "lived experiences" that accurately mirror the diversity in society itself. The author's vivid, applied, personal writing style engages students, and activates compelling everyday examples that make sociology particularly relevant to diverse students. A social issue or application opens each chapter and provides various topics for boxes, features, and examples that are carried throughout the entire chapter. Kendall's text is acclaimed in the field for being the first textbook to integrate race, class, and gender issues; as well as for its thorough presentation of sociological theory, which includes diverse theoretical viewpoints such as feminist and postmodernist theory. Kendall shows students that sociology involves important questions and issues that they confront both personally and vicariously.

Great for a rental. The pages are bent and the corners are folded, but its still in decent condition. No highlighter or writing. It'll definitely work for the class I'm taking (and save me a load of money). Definitely recommend renting this book.
It was the book I needed, and it was the book I got. I bought it used since the new hardcover cost about three times as much. It finally came in, yet, they shipped me the instructors edition, which was no problem for me although my class mates wondered why my textbook was a different color than theirs. Once I received it, I spent over and hour trying to take off the blocking adhesive paper on the back cover and the spine of the textbook to distract me from noticing it was an instructor's edition. The price was great, the book was great. Overall, a great buy Sociology in Our Times
I am pleasantly surprised with the loose leaf textbook. The binder has been an easy place to store the textbook, my class notes and handouts. It's very convenient. Although the way the subject matter is handled is confusing for me, at least the loose leaf format is working out very well. I also have it on the Kindle version and enjoy the reader feature on the digital version of the textbook.
The rental system from Amazon is wonderful and has save me a ton of $$$ during my college classes. Returning books is simple and quick. This book was easy to understand and informative.
I really don't like Sociology, but understanding the way we communicate is very important. This book has sown me some ways to better my communication skills and how to be a more understanding listener.
The book arrived in very good condition. It had no damage, only wear from simply existing. I bought this instead of the Tenth "Essentials" edition, and is has all of the same material, only in a slightly different order. It actually has more information than the tenth edition, which cut a chapter on aging.
Well, I got an A in my class studying on this book, so I'd say it was pretty decent! The spine has also held up well over the years.
Had to get it for class but still was interesting.
