This book can be used as a study guild or for knowledge acquisition, your choice. The information is easy to understand and the illustration serves as a perfect auxiliary for memorization. To me, it this is the perfect source of information to reference from and apply.

I have the predecessor to this book by DK and I can say that this updated version is certainly head and shoulders above the original in terms of the explanatory content and illustrations. The writing is, for the most part, clear and succinct. The illustrations surpass any other medical text I have encountered thus far.

I would absolutely love to give this book a five-star rating. However, there was a failure on the part of the authors to perform a careful proofread before this book went to print. There are quite a few gramatical errors and in some of the illustrations the leader lines point to the wrong structures, which can cause confusion for the reader or student of human anatomy.

I discovered this new edition at my local library in their new books section a few weeks ago. The binding was already coming apart, though it had not been on the shelf long.

I am hoping that the binding on the copy I purchased will hold up better.

I'm prepping for Paramedic School and this book was on the 'optional' list of books we needed. I have Anatomy and Physiology for Paramedics, which is also very good, but The Human Body breaks everything down more with some really excellent drawings and explanations. I'll be using this book to supplement A&P.
Simple fellow
This was purchased for a little girl with an intense fascination with the body and how it works. We haven't used the DVD just yet, but this book is gorgeous and breathtaking. Lots of visual detail accompanied by engaging, accurate facts about the body, its systems, and its processes.

I would have paid double what I did if I'd have had the chance to thumb through it before purchasing. It's that feature-rich, information-laden, and lovely.

It took a total of 2 seconds to decide I needed to own this book while browsing the medical section at Barnes and Noble. The only problem is, I really didn't have $40 to spend on a book. So off I went to Amazon.

This book has some amazing high quality images. If you're as big of a nerd as I am, seeing a massive 2 page digital image of an axion, or a detailed look at muscle fiber is breath taking. While there are a few incorrect facts and a few mislabeled body parts (the inner ear bones come to mind) I've heard these were corrected on newer prints.

Even if you're not a nerd, the images are amazing and should grab the attention and fascination of anyone with an even passing curiosity about the human body. I hope DK continues to make books like this (I'm thinking a cellular biology book with this detail would be amazing!), and look forward to purchasing the Human Brain Book.

The Human Body Book is amazing in the fact that so much information is contained in so few pages. The language used for the medical terminology is of common everyday words easily understandable which is great! I never once had to refer to a dictionary or encylopedia for clarification and explanation of what I had just read. PLUS the illustrations and anatomy diagrams are of exceptional quality and extremely fun and fascinating at the same time. I will give this book to my 13 year old nephew who is already interested in the medical field and I'm sure he will have no problem understanding any or the content - matter I'm sure he's going to have fun reading this from start to finish - *****

Awesome book to leave on the coffee table of where every the family hangs out. Our 8-year-old is constantly looking at it and asking questions.
Great book, very detailed and not that difficult to understand. The book is well organized and the pictures are easy to comprehend.
