by Craig Wright

LISTENING TO MUSIC covers all the major topics of a typical music appreciation course, but adds two important pedagogical advantages: one, a CD in each student copy of the text contains all of the music discussed in Chapters 1-3, which covers the elements (or "fundamentals") of music, and two, listening exercises in the text. Chronologically ordered, this text covers traditional Western music from medieval to modern. Concluding chapters discuss popular and world music. Musical examples from each historical period are discussed within their social context.

Excellent for my beginner adult music students. Takes you from absolutely no knowledge of classical music to a fine beginning foundation.
I highly recommend this book whether one is take the course or not.
Jam packed with information. Just what I was looking for.
This book was purchased to use during a college course. This book served it's purpose. I don't recall that it actually came with the cd. I think I had to purchase the cd separately.
Great value for a textbook.
Very informative and enjoyable.
This book I bought for school. It is what I needed but cannot say I "liked" the book. Shipped fast.
Excellent book covering various topics pertaining to music.
