Well, where to start...

I am a senior high school student preparing for my German exam. I have used this book as part of my preparation schedule

I find that it's main advantage is that everything is given in a concise and easy to read manner. There is no padding, and no need to sift through useless information.

However, this becomes a disadvantage - examples are few, explanations are sparse, and I believe not enough attention is given to each section. It is truly a small reference book for those wanting to refresh - not learn. The section on the Passive and Subjunctive I thought to be particularly deficient, and would be downright confusing for those who have never encountered it before.

It is good as a review of how much you know, and it may make you feel better with the easy exercises. However, I would recommend Schaum's or Hammer's if you are actually wanting to learn the grammar, and not just revise.

Quality of the book? The paper is not of the highest quality, but of a satisfying thickness. It gains a yellow tinge quickly, and seems to be of recycled origin. (The yellow is nothing distressing, but simply doesn't retain the pure white of other higher quality papers) The book appears to be double spaced, and tables dominate the space of most pages. Though listed as being 200 pages, that is probably being a little generous, considering the former comments.

This book contains all the stuff that the various tapes, software and other books either don't explain or don't explain well. If you have been studying German for a while and know that there are rules that you just don't seem to be getting then this book will explain all. As I read this book I kept saying ahhh that is how that works.
