Although the Lower-Middle Jurassic boundary is commonly placed at the boundary between the two formations, our data indicate that at Anholt the upper Fjerritslev Formation (member F-IV) is of Aalenian age. The Lower-Middle Jurassic boundary occurs close to the boundary between members F-III and F-IV of the Fjerritslev Formation.

It was a late form of common Old Norse. The Danish philologist Johannes Brøndum-Nielsen divided the history of Danish into "Old Danish" from 800 AD to 1525 and "Modern Danish" from 1525 and onwards. He subdivided Old Danish into "Runic Danish" (800–1100), Early Middle Danish (1100–1350) and Late Middle Danish (1350–1525).
Middle Jurassic updoming of the Central Graben area (Ziegler 1982) . The Lower Permian section is characterised by volcanic rocks succeeded by aeo-. lian deposits and sabkha sediments of the Rotliegendes.

The narrow central section west of this graben system carries stratovolcanoes like the Cantal – Europe's highest shield volcano – and the Monts Dore (including the highest elevation in the massif, the Puy de Sancy), but also maar and explosion craters of the Chaîne des Puys farther north.
Middle Jurassic–Early Cretaceous climate. The Jurassic Period is generally considered as a greenhouse world, devoid of major glacial episodes (Donnadieu et al. 2011). The start of the Jurassic might even be considered a super-hothouse, with extreme high atmospheric CO2 levels as a result of volcanic outgassing associated with the Central Atlantic Magmatic Province (Korte & Hesselbo 2011). The area of interest is the southern part of the Middle Jurassic–Lower Cretaceous rift system and is loosely referred to as the Central Graben area (Fig.
