by The Valley Land Fund Wildlife Photo Cont

Step into the wild lands of South Texas through the stunning photographs you'll find in this book. These images are the winners of the 2004 Valley Land Fund Wildlife Photo Contest, which every two years awards more in prize money than any other wildlife photo contest in the world. The sixth book in a valuable set, Visions of South Texas will expose you to a unique collection of wildlife, including many not found anywhere else in the country. This book and the contest are tools of The Valley Land Fund, a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting native habitat in a region rapidly losing its natural areas to urban development. Here is a landscape worth treasuring and protecting for all time.

My father is a retired Border Patrolman, who spent more than twenty years working out of the McAllen sector. He has Alzheimer's, now, but looking through the book, he recalls his days on the river, the brushland, and the farms and ranches of South Texas. Awesome!

I have the full collection of the Valley Land Fund books. They are images are taken during a grueling contest in South Texas. Photographers test the limits of their equipment and talent to produce a diverse portfolio of the flora and fauna. Only the best make it and win cash that is shared equally with the private land owner where the images were taken.

Again, the images are stunning. The contest and resulting books are the result of the hard work of many volunteers and the VLF employees who believe in the need for private landowners to be partners in conservation. You will appreciate both the pictures taken and stories within. Enjoy!
