I read this text during a week and I couldn't put it down. It is thorough and communicate effectively all the aspects dealing with curriculum, starting from educational philosophies, different types of designs, development, and evaluation. More importantly, at the end of each chapter, when necessary, Oliva gives us a series of examples on how to incorporate each stage of curriculum development in a curriculum document. The last chapter is very thorough on contemporary issues and clarifies a lot of recent concepts, alternatives to our public school system. This is a must to understand curriculum.

For curriculum developers, educators, teachers, school principals, curriculum planners, and who concerns in curriculum development, I have found this textbook to be useful and fruitful in the field.
The language used in this textbook is easy and straightforward. In addition, the textbook can be used as a reference.

Currently, I am preparing my doctoral degree of education in curriculum and instruction at the University of Phoenix Online. This textbook is required for the course "Curriculum Design."

I wish you all Good Luck.

Book came ripped and pages were falling out

The book was a great read and an easy one at that! I feel that it is kind of repetitive but still a great first year book for teachers!

Excellent book with special emphasis on a creative curriculum development model.

The whole purchasing process was easy. Book is borderline racist in some chapters. Not focused on higher education at all, and that is the focus of my doctoral program.
there was 36 page missed !!!
