I first discovered this book in a homeschool book store. I volunteer with young gardeners (6th-8th graders) This book is a perfect addition to our Aggie gardening/plant science curriculum. There is a great deal of useful plant info presented in a concise fashion & in a glossy & attractive format. I love this book and have bought a number of copies to enhance plant ID, anatomy, seed dispersal, photosynthesis & plant reproduction lessons for young gardeners.

My children will be using this wonderful book, along with 'The Usborne Internet-Linked Library of Science World of Plants' (there's a long title), and 'The Usborne Complete Book of the Human Body,' for their fourth and seventh grade science curriculum. We will be focusing on Biology, and these books are perfect. This book offers the information you would find in a regular science textbook, but it is presented in a straight forward style. The illustrations are beautiful. There are suggestions for quick experiments here and there. They are not overwhelming for the adults to prepare, in my opinion. There are also many website activities that reinforce the topics. We use this book in our classical home-school education (trivium). I would recommend this text for grades 4 through 8. We will be using it for grades 4 and 7 for the first part of the school year. Then, we will move on to animals. Finally, we will study the human body. Overall, I am very pleased with the information, illustrations, and vocabulary used in this text.

Not just for kids! I've already been through various biology/botany courses. I know a good book when I see one. This book is illustrated cover to cover with excellent graphics. It's such a tiny book filled to the hilt with introductory information about plants. Nice book as a refresher course about various plants that touches the surface points. Fun to keep this within reach just to appease your plant curiosity. Fantastic graphics! The text is written to deliver the knowledge in bite size amounts. Combining that with the illustrations, the presentation of material is rapidly absorbed by the mind. It's simple, visual, and gives the reader an infographic-designed overview. You can look up the details online anyways. :-) Love this book!
