by Phil Cox

This is a collection of twelve lively stories ideal for the very young with regular, repeated word sounds that are hugely appealing to children learning their first words. Very simple text encourages reading, helping children to sound out individual letters, then blend them together to make whole words. It contains a listen-along CD that brings the stories to life with charming readings.

This is a fantastic collection of stories for children learning to read phonetically and very hard to find in this format. The library collecting of these is VERY pricey and I was thrilled to find them in this compact, and much less expensive format. It comes with the stories on CD, and has many fold-out pages. This is a high quality book and well worth the $30 price I paid for it. I am VERY picky when it comes to reading material for children emerging/early readers because there is so much out there that totally inappropriate and useless. These stories ARE PHONETIC and gradually introduce phonograms with lots of repetition of phonograms in one story for practice. Great purchase.

My kids loved the stories; my 4yo learned to read well with this book. A few words chosen for some of the stories were odd (there were also a few commonly used British words). Overall a nice (level 1-2) reader.
The Sphinx of Driz
Purchased for my grandson's second birthday, this clever book remains one of his favorites out of hundreds of books that he owns, and he's close to turning three. The whimsical illustrations and rhyming story line draw the reader into the overall plot as anticipation lures us to turn each page, that is after lifting the flaps to reveal fun surprises. I initially purchased this book for my grandbaby; however, I had to order numerous others to share with former students' children. This book is also among the family of books in my own home and awaits being selected by little hands for larger ones to hold and treasure.

I love this series for early readers. It's a great way to introduce reading. The stories are different from one another and flow in a way that the child doesn't get bored. I highly recommend this for 5 year olds learning how to read story books.
Mustard Forgotten
Liked this complete set. Has fold out pages that contain surprises. The companion CD makes it easy for my 5 year old to sit and enjoy by herself. Buying the set all in one book saved a lot of money vs. buying each reader individually. Having the stories bound together is great for storage and travel. The book is about an inch thick. It's bound together well, but if your kids are rough and tear up books this may not be a good a option for you.
Quynaus
This book has fun pictures and cute stories. My 3 and 4 year old daughters love all the stories. Theylove when we pick up this book. The stories are also predictable enough that young children can guess the rhyming words.

Very good book for beginner readers, Correct phonics.
I ordered this book after seeing a paperbook of one of the stories. The book arrived in rapid time, which I was very pleased about. My 3-year-old grandson is thrilled with the stories, bright colors, and humor.
