Although I like the Alex Delaware character, I am very disappointed that this book was marketed like it was a fairly new release not 19-20 yrs ago. Feel like I wasted 9.99 as I probably read it when it was first released. Didn't realize until after I bought it.
One of Jonathan's better books, his skills as a psychologist are more fully used in this book, where the thinking rather than guess work pays off in the end. Many twists and turns keep you wanting to read on, although slow to begin ( the reason for my slight down grade 4*) the momentum builds. The characters are believable and true to nature ie. the bad guys are bad etc. A good read, although the "low life" may turn some people off, that apart, this book was enjoyable and one for your list.
A bit drawn out -- to the extent that sometimes I would be reading something and have no clue what they were referring to and have to try to go back through the back and find earlier references. I haven't completely finished it, but have started a new novel which I'm nearly done with. It just wasn't one of Kellerman's better efforts.
Would have rated the book higher but I wasn't crazy about the subject matter. So much sickness masquerading as greatness. The world is full of it, no doubt. But I am always in awe of how you doin a phase, like prose. You are an amazing writer. Your characters are full bodied and I adore Milk even though it's difficult to hear him described. I'm booked on the Alex Delaware books.
I have been a huge fan of Kellerman's for at least a decade, if not longer. Every book that I have read has been interesting. However, there is another element to his writing that I enjoy. I receive an education in Psychology. Two for the price of one!
A book that will hold your interest. Just when you thing you have solved the crime along with Dr. Delaware, you are thrown with an unexpected twist! D.M.
l LOVE Delaware novels. this one was hard o get through. then it all came together. shows the dark side we all hide. human beings at our worst. if you've never read a novel by Kellerman this one may be a bit dark. he has way of writing that pulls you in. you are trying to figure out where it's going and then it goes off somewhere else. Wil keep reading Delaware novels as they're out there.
Pure fun to read - a real page turner. All the characters, even minor ones, have backstories. This book is a fast read -- especially towards the end. Also, I love books that are a series - probably from my childhood or serial movies.
