Another outstanding murder mystery by the talented Diane Mott Davidson. She not only conjures up a plate of delicious murder, she also cooks up wonderful recipes for the reader's pleasure. All of the recipes featured in the life of her amateur sleuth, Goldy Schulz (Professional Caterer), are included in the book so the reader can have more of a "being there" experience, if desired. This novel stands on its own, but if read in sequence with the rest of the Goldy collection, the broader, more complete story of Goldy's life unfolds. So much fun!
This is a decent book with a bad ending. It's also well written book. The author's problem is with the plot. It's just a little much.

At times it was a stubble but I kept at it and found it to be a decent book. I don't think I'll try any of her other books though.
Goldie Bear, of Goldielocks Catering, once again is feeding the elite of Aspen Meadow with her small business. She has the help of Julian, a senior at the Prep school where her son Arch goes, too. When Keith Andrews, the top student in the senior class is murdered, Goldie must help find the killer. Lots of romance, mystery, and great recipes!
The book is very easy reading. It keeps you guessing as to what will happen right up to the last page.It appears that Goldy has gotten hard to find happiness. Will be interesting to see how The two boys Arch and Julian handle another man around the house. Can hardly wait for the next installment of The Elk Park Preparatory School saga. Would be nice to have a smooth sailing school year but feel that somehow it will have some bumps in the road. Need to follow Julian thru his college years.
My only regred is that I have now read all of the Goldy Bear Culinary Mysteries and have to wait for another one to be released. Goldy Bear combines mystery, recipes and parenthood all in a beautiful Colorado setting. Goldy started a catering business to support her son and her self after finally leaving an abusive marriage. Sometimes I get frustrated at how terrified she continues to be by her awful ex- husband; but, when I think about it, I realize that must be part of what makes this believable. I would have given it five stars but it isn't great literature - just wholly satisfying as an escape.
I really like Ms. Davidson's writing. She always has interesting plot twists, fun recipes to try and it is always a challenge to figure out "who dun it?" This is one of her earliest if not the earliest book in her series with this cast of characters. I have read all of them. I really like her writing style and the down to earth emotions the characters have. It is a good read, very enjoyable. I highly recommend this book and the others in this series.
I will read anything Diane Mott Davidson writes. She is engaging throughout and spins her yarn in a very creative manner, making it hard to figure out what is going to happen next, and who the killer is.
Goldy is catering a dinner for the school seniors and parents and at the end of the night finds one of the students it starts again. Goldy is right in the middle again since she found the body. Who would want him dead? Her son and border are both involved with the school too so she decides she needs to find out the answers. Another good read.
