Spine tingling in places, this novel centres on a 25y old mystery of the disappearance of baby Dylan at a Sonoma, California winery. After his disappearance, his parents marriage dissolves and his mother runs away to San Francisco with her 5y old daughter, Alex from a previous relationship. Bringing Alex up on her own, she removes all evidence of their former life. Alex however, suffers from disturbing nightmares of sinister men in robes and naked writhing bodies in a dark candlelit place and wonders if these hark back to something from her childhood. When the body of a baby is found in an old vineyard and Alex's mother commits suicide Alex discovers her connection with Dylan and moves to Sonoma to find out more about her family.

Erica Spindler writes blood chilling scenes very well indeed. The novel is a fast ride through the light that is Sonoma wine country to the darkness hiding in some of the old wine families. Although this is the first book I have read by Erica Spindler, but won't be the last.
I generally like Erica Spindler's books but couldn't get into this one. The info on wine country was great and not excessive. But the characters had no depth. I really didn't care about any of them and the ending was stupid and not everything was resolved. Plus I don't get the thing with Alex and Reed. They never went out in public together and half the time Reed thought Alex was a murderer. There were three or four sex scenes which totaled, not kidding, about two pages. Borrow this one from the library.
The main character is this book is Alexandra Owen Clarkson. She is a lady with no past or so she thinks. All of a sudden the world starts shifting around her, memories and realities are mixed in together and soon many deaths follow. This takes place up in the beautiful county in which I live Sonoma County (wine country) California. This is a very good book and as usual, I was shocked at who was behind the events that took place in this novel.

Just want to say that I was so pleased with Blood Vines. It was magnificent!!! I was mesmerized. Erica is a fabulous story teller. I could not put the book down. This is like Erica's older books that were so great!!! She is an awesome writer!!
One of Erica's best books. Never a dull moment. Even if you guess the villain you have to read the rest of the story...and it doesn't necessarily end the way you think.
This is my first book from this author and it was okay to good. Plot was suspenseful but unrealistic. There were way too many characters to remember, had to occasionally go back and look up who was who again and which family they belonged to, but overall an okay read.
It was a predictable storyline. Nothing shocking, storyline blasé. It's to bad. Spindler has written better. Should you read it?get it from the library if you must. I was disappointed to have. Bought it.
Blood Vines was recommended by I am a big fan of Erica Spindler and Blood Vines did not disappoint. I felt Alexandra's fear in the wine caves. When I think I know 'who done it' the plat changes and I suspect someone else.
One of the best Erica Spindler books I've read and all her books are great. I couldn't put this book down. I would recommend it to any readers of thrillers. You won't be disappointed.
