Following the first book, "There and Now", "Here and Then" is the continuation of two cousins who discover they can travel back in time.

Rue sets out to find her missing cousin Elizabeth who magically disappeared. Rue is not buying any of it. Rue, the more outspoken of the two cousins, decides their now deceased, eccentric aunt has definitely played a part in the disappearance.

Rue accidentally finds the mysterious "charm" that sent Elizabeth back to the late 1800's. Eventually Rue also finds herself catapulted back in time and winds up in jail.....and faced with the no nonsense town marshal, Farley Haynes. Instant attraction. However, their beginning is like mixing oil and water.

You have the gist of the story. This book has intrigue, history, lots of humor and a lot of love. I recommend you read "There and Now" first and follow up with "Here and Then". You will not be disappointed. In true Linda Lael Miller style, she comes through with yet another great storyline. I love her sense of humor. It so makes her books. Happy reading.
Linda Lael Miller tackles the subject of time travel with her usual thoroughness,. This tale of a modern girl and a last century Sheriff in the Old West is engaging on several levels. The story is well thought out, humorous and gripping by turns. The idea of the complications with time travel that bewilders and intrigues the central characters, engages the reader too, and the twists and turns of the plot as hero and heroine change centuries turn and turn about keeps the momentum going. Miller is careful to make the puzzles about time travel believeable and not afraid to pose questions about such an idea. I enjoyed this tale, and even if you're not particularly a time travel fan I think you will too.
I liked this sequel Here and Then to There and Now. I liked how this story cont from the other and had the same characters in both. They are both good reads and are non stop reading that take you away to a fun place making you feel like you are traveling with Rue and Lizzie. I hope there are more time travel in the futher. (Cover horse should have been black for Lobo)
I read this after reading Lizzie and Jon's story - so I was expecting the same attention to detail. The book was good with the exception of the ending (I won't give that away). How do you spend so much time building to a crescendo only to wrap up the entire book in 3 paragraphs? Also there were several missed opportunities to add to the story. The story ends too soon and left me feeling cheated out of an ending.
Gold as Heart
I love the love story behind this book, I read it in 1992 and since I have read it twice again. All of Ms. Miller are a work of art.
What an imaginative idea to time travel between the old west and the future. I am so glad the way it ended. Love conquers all.
If you like fiction that includes time travel, this is the book for you. Linda Lael Miller has the talent to make the story completely believable and makes you care about the characters she weaves through her story. A must read.
Great book...looking forward to more of the same type of stories. Love this author. Have read many of her .books
