Paige Donahue has always lived in her sister Camille's shadow. As children, Camille had the grades, the friends, and their parents' love, while Paige was left with hand-me-downs and criticism. Now as adults, Camille lives an idyllic life with her husband, Pierce, and her two perfect children in a beautiful home, while Paige is stuck in a small condo with bills she can't afford to pay. But no more. With seeds of doubt planted in both Camille's and Pierce's minds, Paige's plan to steal her brother-in law starts to work. But when he reveals his decision to make his marriage work, a desperate Paige moves from envy to madness. What results from her dangerous scheme is something no one could have imagined.

Living in older sister Camille's shadow her entire life has taken it's toll on Paige Donahue. We can easily empathize with her upon finding out that her mother clearly favored her sister growing up, and still makes Paige feel unworthy and second class. Fed up and ready to take what she believes should be hers, Paige concocts a master plan of deceit, manipulation, and heartbreak, which then makes it difficult for readers to feel sorry for her. She can't stand the sight of her darling sister, but puts up the most convincing act as she plans to steal her sister's car, home, and husband, Pierce. Paige is sickly obsessed with anything Pierce, and will stop at nothing to be his next wife. Her game plan seems to be running smoothly, and exactly according to plan in the beginning, but not for long. As the tale unfolds, secondary characters appear seamlessly to claim the spotlight, and the drama becomes jaw dropping and unpredictable.

I like the overall plot, but this read did not contain the intriguing story lines we are used to from this author. The product description of this novel is extremely straight forward, and precisely sums up exactly what happens between the pages. Nothing more, nothing less. Although surely entertaining, I found this short read to be either too simple or over done in every category. The twists make the novel, but the drama is heightened above that of a dramatic film, and the fairy tale ending comes off as abrupt and left me feeling cheated.

I love this author but this is not one of her best works. Paige is one sick puppy. It appears that it did not take much to write this story. The plot was rather basic and it finally picked up toward the end where you found a few twists. I will still continue to support Kimberla and her works.;

this book was very good. i have not read book like this before but i enjoyed it. i could not put the book down. paige was crazy women indeed! she really though she was going to take her sister husband away from her. she did it all cuz she hated her sister so much for the better treatment her mother give her sister instand of her. this book just shows that you do reap what you sow to people. i think its not right how the mom treated paige. i think the mom should have gotta help herself cuz she was takin the feelings of pain out on her daughter paige. the story does have twists and turns. its a page turner. i dont want to say too much just read the book you wont put it down im telling you! once again kimberla lawson roby done it again in the novel. im lookin forward to readin her new book coming out in jan 2013 ''the perfect marriage''i will keep on reading her books. i love how she writes her storys out and keep you into the book. its fast paced books she writes!

As soon as I read the two chapter preview, I KNEW something was not quite right about Ms. Paige Donahue! Yet I couldn't wait to pre-order my copy of `Secret Obsession' so I could dive into this craziness! My book arrived on Sept. 8. I finished the book the very next day! I could not put this book down!!!

Paige went to GREAT LENGTHS to get the man she... LOVED...once & for all! The fact that this man was her BROTHER-IN-LAW didn't mean that he was out of reach to Paige. Clearly, Paige was a hurting woman. I didn't know just how much until I continued reading.

I don't want to give all the details away BUT...WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND...STAGES THEIR OWN...oops, you've got to read the book for those juicy details! (Sorry!)

You know the saying "Hurt people, hurt people"? Well, Paige wasn't the only woman who was hurting. Her mother CLEARLY was hurting for a long time to treat her own flesh & blood the way that she did. That was very, very sad! I would have liked to see (read) how/if the mother-daughter relationship may have changed after everything went down. (I really don't want to spoil it for those who haven't read the book yet.)

This book is about more than a woman obsessed with her well-to-do sister's husband. This story, crazy as it is, eventually deals with forgiveness & also mental illness.

`Secret Obsession' left me gasping at times (thinking: "Did she SERIOUSLY just do THAT?!"), laughing at others and teary-eyed at others. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that any fan of Kimberla Lawson-Roby's books read this one! I promise it won't take you long! You won't want to put it down!

Happy reading!

I have read most if not all of Kimberla Lawson Roby books. I read this one in 2-3 days while on vacation. I could not put the book down.
It was different from her other writings but it still had a great story line and plot. Sista was crazy as all get out. And you would think that people are not like that in real life but you never know who is plotting against you.

This book was quick and somewhat entertaining. I mean it kept my interest. However, it put the "C" in Corny. I have read other books by this author that were SOOOO much better. This book seemed like it was written by a first time novelist. We read this for our book club. I tried to tell my friend/fellow book club member that this author has much better books out there. She said it would be a LONGGGGGGG time before she would ever pick up another book by this author based on her experience reading this one. (sigh...oh well) - If you want something quick and easy to read....you know, something to read under the hair dryer at the salon. Check it out. If you want something gripping and or/awe inspiring. This is not your book.

Paige was determined to destroy her sister Camille' life. Paige put a plan in motion to destroy Camille's marriage and make her life a living hell...Camille and Pierce was happily married until Paige starts to do crazy things..........We need to learn what goes in the wash will come out in the rinse.........I loved the book.
