Whenever I am in need of a good book to read and have nothing on my list, Anne Rivers Siddons is one of the authors I turn to. I have enjoyed every book I've read of hers, and this book did not disappoint. I am always amazed by the different subjects she covers. This book takes place in Atlanta and the Santa Cruz mountains in California. I am a native San Franciscan and spent my childhood summers in the Santa Cruz mountains (not the Santa Cruzes as she calls them), and I found her descriptions of the area fairly accurate. The storyline was good and thought provoking and, as always with this author, well written. I think my favorite book by her is Downtown, and I've enjoyed every other book I've read by her.

I always enjoy her books. I have read all the current ones and was hesitant to try Fault Lines. I was so totally taken with the scientific thread within the drama of each of their lives. I realize it was fiction. However, being from NC and having lived in California for several years;it brought back memories. I watched my popeye goldfish being tossed about in his aquarium while the water sloshed out. That was my first experience with the ground beneath us swaying. Anne Rivers Sidden has a talent for addressing the human needs of the young and old alike. A truly lovely book.

This book was the greatest! I love Anne Rivers Siddons books--I have read them all, and always been left wanting more SOON!!! If you have never read her books, Start now and you will be hooked for life! Her characters come alive, the situations draw you in and hold you until the last word is read.

I like Anne Rivers Siddons and her books. She does a good job of taking you away to another place...excactly why I read fiction to relax. I liked the characters and story line, but it is miles from my reality. So, it was tough to relate to the characters and what they are experiencing. Also, the way she resolved the romantic conflict was a bit ...well, fictional. Still, it was fun to read and I'm still her fan. If you enjoy her books you won't be disappointed with this one.

Once I got going I couldn't stop. To me, that's the recipe for a good book. It was magical, educational (who knew about earthquakes) and, as always, a little philosophical and reflective. Great characters and a lot of variety. Never a dull moment. I almost hate finishing and yet can't wait until the end to see what happens. ARS is an all time favorites and she continues to be.

I'm a big fan of Ms Siddons Sweet Water Creek and Up Island being favorites, this however failed to intrigue me. The tone was a whining rich girl up happy with life for no good reason, well ya there's a lot of that even in normal life . Not my cup if tea .

I have read every book Anne Rivers Siddons has published. All are great books! I really enjoy her ability to keep the readers attention to the background of her story in addition to the fascinating highlights weaving them together in such a way that you don't want to lay the book down. She is an excellent story teller, does research well making the books so much more interesting. I have lived in the Low Country of South Carolina for 11 years and she tells it like it is. I can hardly wait for her next great book.
This book is full of emotions, much like the shifting fault lines in California. Every day there are small quakes just under the surface, threatning to disrupt lives, much like the characters in Fault Lines. It takes a strong jolt to bring a mother and her two daughters to examine what is important and choose to make life changing decisions.
