Karin slaughter really did not disappoint in these stories. I laughed until I cried at the Judicator. Ms. Slaughter is the queen of sarcasm in that story.
The Remarkaable Heart kept me intereted and slammed dunked the ending. It was a OMG moment. I will look for more of her shorts.

very disappointed - love her books, these were not up to her usual standards.

I like Karin Slaughter, but usually hate short stories. These are remarkable. Some more than others. The last, the best. All different views of women's lives. Well worth a listen.

The unremarkable heart and other stories

Nobody likes a short story better than I do. I have searched and searched for venues for these (as an author) but find publishers usually unwilling do them, unless of course your initials are N.R. or J. P.
Being the author of over two hundred published shorts I like to think I have it down. Welllll not so fast Mrs. Author. Let's say I have SOME of it down.
In some literary instances you have to be able to write things that are not particularly appealing, or sometimes down right awful.

I hate to admit that I enjoyed (with a shutter I might add) almost everyone of Karen Slaughter's stories in THE UNREMARKABLE HEART AND OTHER STORIES.

Anyone who knows me, knows that I love it when a person who does something bad to another gets what he or she deserves and a lot of that happens in a couple of these stories.
But then there is that "cliffhanger" part where when the truth is about to be revealed, the person who needs to hear it most never does. That's when your imagination kicks in and begins to run amuck with "what if's" or "how Comes."
I would really love to tell you about each story but I think you should be LISTEN on your own in order to get the full, honest and sometimes gory effect.

I do recommend these entertaining if slightly disturbing tales.
