by Catherine Cookson

Maisie could never be quite Sure when she met up with Hamilton; most likely, it was when she started talking to herself as an often lonely seven-year-old. Hamilton, an imaginary horse, had to remain a secret for many years, for what Would people think of Maisie if she revealed that the only friend she had was a horse who acted as her guide, philosopher and confidant

Life was difficult enough for Maisie without that, and increasingly so as she grew to womanhood and became a wife. But if she could not talk about Hamilton, she could at least write about him. And write she did, with results that would broaden her horizons far beyond her native Tyneside.

Collected together in one volume for the first time, the three Hamilton novels tell a story in which Catherine Cookson blends humour and pathos to irresistible effect.

Charming in the way only Catherine Cookson can be.
Haven't read the book yet, but have read at least 25 of Catherine Cookson books. Love her writings. Have shared them with friends and family, now they are hooked on her books as well.
I've read most of Catherine Cookson books , I really enjoy them! This book is different as the other review states , but it kept my interest and I look forward to reading the other two in this series.
Always an avid fan of the authors books.
I took too long to read it, not books problem, mine. Have always enjoyed Catherine Cookson's books
Love those English authors!! Have read all of the books that she has written that you have available. Wish there were more. Almost didn't get the 1st Hamilton book as it had a poor review. Then I noticed that it was only one person's opinion and I gave it a try. Great writing. Could hardly wait to read the other 2 sequels.
Enjoyable, but did not keep me "glued" as her other books have
great writer hard to put down loved it
First of all, I don't care for first person writing. Secondly, it was just an odd book and not one I'm used to reading of hers, and I've read most of them.
