An eerie text. A bit on the spooky side. At the beginning, it seems like the diary of a person who is slowly going mad. At the end, what is the truth? Is he mad ? or was he really pursued by a supernatural force ? An interesting read. It might be good to read an academic interpretation of Maupassant's style and its contrast to other styles of the time. If anyone has suggestions on that, I'd welcome it.
doesnt Do You
The story was excellent. Although the book was written during the Realism period in France the story takes more likness to Strinberg style of writing then Realism. all and all excellent book and very lisable.
Many years ago I watched a Vincent Price movie called "La Horla" which was based on this book and loved it. Vincent Price is Priceless. The story is of course different than the movie a little but is just as good. I loved the story.
Buen libro

This "edition" of La Maison Tellier is quite literally a photocopy of a copy of the book from one of Oxford's libraries. The production quality is very low, and it is not a properly printed book. The paper is cheap, as is the cover. The photocopied pages are crooked. I do not view this as a proper book.
I recommend it for an easy, fast and very interesting reading. It takes you into a very well described world, where there is a misterious story, a horror story.
