This is a review of the free Kindle edition - just over 3,400 locations.

Strange is a good way to sum up the story. The refusal of our hero to get more help is, frankly, quite confusing, and he's darn lucky to survive. The ending is bad - you just let the villain go? Really? Yeah, he gets his just desserts, but still, not a fan of that sort of conclusion by accident.

Regardless, I do love the idea of falling love by photograph. If you like a strange, complicated mystery, give it a try.
This book was a wonderful find in the free Kindle section. It is a mystery written in the period where Russia ruled Finland. It contains action, suspense, and a bit of romance. Sometimes the way the principal character gets out of trouble seems a bit contrived, but it the end it is a wonderful tale.
Very entertaining story!
East read, but not very realistic, but enjoyable
Enjoyable read. I've read a number of his books. Not as good as The Four Faces but it still kept me up late to get to the next chapter.
Terrible waste of time. I am generally a fan of old books, don't mind the wordiness or dated style, but this was just bad!
I've enjoyed reading this author's works, but the conclusion of this story was weak. Too bad the ending fell far short of the rest of the book.
It starts off pretty good, but slows down. It continues to do that all the way to the end.
