I wanted this book for the story "Watchers", a book I can no longer seem to find as a single novel in hard-cover. Then I saw this one with two other novels in it also from Dean Knootz. First let me say the book's condition was better then expected as far as quality goes! It was in new condition. The jacket was in new great condition too! I was so impressed and pleased as I will be putting this one on my shelf along with my other Dean Knootz books. I not only read the story I was craving to read but the other two too and they were great! These are stories Knootz wrote in the 70's and 80's, and they are very enjoyable. Everything you want from Knootz, scary, suspenseful, and surprising!
I love Dean Koontz books. I have a lot of ebooks, but there is just nothing like holding the real thing. I bought this copy for my niece to introduce her to Koontz. I have every book he has written and read them all several times. I particularly like Watchers in this book. It was the first one of is books I ever read and I was hooked from then on. Like his older books best, but like any thing he writes. Yhe seller delivered this fairly quick so I would purchase from there again. Good value for the price.
"Shattered" was quite forgettable for me. "Whispers", however, was quite suspenseful and enjoyable, but "Watchers" is one of the best novels by Koontz. Many fans of Koontz cite "Watchers" as their favorite book by the novel, and with good reason- Einstein, the lovable Golden Retriever, will undoubtedly capture your heart, and the tale is very well told.

Though this collection is a good value, I was not particularly impressed with the quality of the physical book itself. Since the publisher's goal was to cram three full-length novels into one collection, the result is a book with very small font type with a ton of text on each page. After getting accustomed to reading on my Kindle, there's no way I can go back to reading a book that's printed in this style. However, I would still rate still collection five stars, based on the quality of the books themselves, particularly "Watchers".
I read Watchers years ago and remembered it with great affection. Recently, after my dog of 17 years died, I picked it up and read it again. Perhaps with older age comes a more critical sense, but I must admit that the second time it didn't have the impact as it did earlier. In a sense, it's a perfect example of the wild inconsistencies Koontz can incorporate into the same volume.

On the one hand, you have a story--even at the fantasy level-- that seems geared to those perhaps under 12. It's one thing to portray a highly intelligent dog; quite another to make it essentially a four-legged human. And the magical transformation of Nora from shivering recluse to warrior queen in the short period of the tale is hard to accept.

But Koontz shines when he sheds the fantasy creations and focuses on the simpler message--the relationship between a man and a dog. He has an almost palpable sense of their depth and interaction, and his prose just sings as he describes it. It's much like listening to great opera. You don't come for the storyline or even the lyrics, which are usually ludicrous. You come for the music--the solos and the choruses. And Koontz periodically provides the equivalent of a show-stopper. That alone makes the read worthwhile.
I bought this book for the Watchers story which is one of my all time favorites. ( Dog ate my copy , Grr )
Shattered was good
Whispers was ok too
Just replacing some books that my kitten destroyed
A used book in great shape. Has my favorite Dean Koontz book, Watchers. If you're an animal lover at all, you need to read this book!
Whispers is one of my all time favorite books. Shattered was the first Koontz book I ever read and I was hooked! Twenty something books later and now my son is into reading thrillers... what better way to get him into one of life's all time best authors!
