Dear Listener: Jade Star, the final novel of the Star series, first appeared in May 1987. Saint Morris has always been my favorite character among all the wonderful San Francisco men. He is fascinating, honorable, and sexy—the perfect hero. Saint first meets Juliana DuPres on the island of Maui when he is a very young doctor, just landed off a whaler, and she is the thirteen-year-old daughter of an impossibly puritanical minister. When he leaves Maui he takes the girl’s heart with him. When Saint sees Juliana again it is six years later and she is being sold in a slave auction in San Francisco. He saves her, then returns her to her parents on Maui. But there is no welcome home for Juliana. She is an outcast, reviled by her family, considered no better than a prostitute. What is Saint to do? He does what any honorable man would do—he marries her and takes her back to San Francisco. He likes to think of himself as her protector and her brother. Juliana has other ideas. Now their adventures begin. In Jade Star you will see again the full cast of characters from the other San Francisco novels. I do hope you’ll write and tell me which are your favorites. The Apotheoses of Lacspor
Dr. Michael(Saint ) Morris knew Jules from a young girl from Hawaii. He rescues her years later after an incident causing er parents yo disown her. He marries her but does not plan on consummating the marriage. He has a mistress back home but he is an honorable man.Jules has been in love with him since she was a child. The story keeps you reading which will win out. Jules wants a real marriage can she change his mind. I don't think this book deserved the bad ratings but that is my opinion.
Lahorns Gods
Of all the "Star" series, this was my favorite. Our hero is a physician, a giant of a man named Michael, though he has been dubbed Saint by his patients and even strangers who know of his careful, gentle healing hands. Ouur littl. heroine, Jules, was raised in Hawaii by strict parents whose thoughts of love and charity should make any would-be convert run for cover. Saint has been on medical missions to the island in the past and little Jules fell in love with him as a child. When circumstances beyond he. control cause Jules to be kidnapped and her virture to be questioned, Saint steps in to marry her and bring her back to the states after her parents disown her. Their life is lively for Michael has finally found a little soul who can try the patience of a"Saint" even as he learns to love her unconditionally. Characters from other "Star" books pop in from time to time as well and that always makes for fun reading as we get to hear more about their "happily-ever-afters!" Enjoy!
It was very simlar to the other books in the series which basically have the same plot. Boy meets girl, boy thinks girls is a shday but then protects her, she loves him, he realizes he loves her and the admit thier love in the last few pages. Not worth the $8 for the kindle edition. I've read worse books and these aren't that bad. The book has been in circulation for several decades so it should be less than $2 for the kindle edition. This is very similar to the other books in the series and to other books written by Catherine Coulter.
This is one of my favorite of the star series. My favorite was the Wild Star. I read that one first. If I had read Evening Star first, I would not have read the series.
Jade Star was a good conclusion the series, only you were left wondering if Saint and Jules have a baby.
The introduction of Thomas was a good move. Great ending for him
The personalities appear in the previous books and it is a nice follow up - meeting the same characters further on in their lives and own stories.
It is always a pleasure to read a book that has humor. This book required the reader to engage in a variety of emotions. A very good read.
