I've read a few of Gabrielle Evan's stories, mainly her Midnight Mating Series. When the Sun Goes Down (Howl At The Moon) was written in 2012, well published that year, and here it is two years later and nothing else is out on this series.

This book isn't written as a stand alone. There's an interesting over arching plot and hints of a continuing storyline amongst the secondary characters. Yes I did check the author's web page and double checked to see if her new The Forgotten Series is linked to this one. From what I can tell, no it isn't.

This was a longer story than the usual, 150 pages. We have the odd mating of Lawton (werewolf) and Daxton (Elf - One of the Forgotten). Daxton is ancient, is one of 7 of his kind, cursed so that as each new day ends, he is forgotten. This poses an interesting problem because for Lawton, he smells Dax and knows he's his mate but can't remember him. This goes on a bit long, same thing over and over again for a few days. That was a bit tedious. But once the solution was figured out, the relationship was a go.

They are on the run, fighting for their lives. Apparently a bunch of evil vampire witches are now freed and taking revenge on all paranormals, as well as humans. Lawton was rescuing as many as he could, converting a few humans to wolves in the process. Lawton is a good guy. But now matters have come to a head.

So where does this leave us? Two years without a continuing story. This one had a lot of promise. Unfortunately, at the present, it isn't going anywhere. So then that leaves me with rating it. Yes I enjoyed it but because it was an incomplete story it's severely downgraded. I wouldn't recommend this book, no matter how good it is, until the author works on the next story. Too many threads are up in the air and the story was left with a cliff hanger. - Dan's Wife

I loved this book and can't wait for the next one in the series. I am not on my seat in anticipation wanting to know where the forgotten are and who has them!
