This book was written by my great great grandmother in the 1800's who was known as one of the best women writers of her time. It totally reflects the times and gentility of the ladies and gentlemen in the story and should be read from that perspective. During those days it would be scandalous to let your hair blow free when it should have been tucked up under a bonnet! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this as Caroline Lee Hentz is a great story teller and writes with such passion and emotion. One person found this helpful. Genres: Fiction - Literature.
