by Elizabeth Von Arnim

'This delicious confection will work its magic on all' Daily Telegraph The discreet advertisement in The Times, addressed 'To Those who Appreciate Wistaria and Sunshine', offers a small medieval castle for rent, above a bay on the Italian Riviera. Four very different women - the dishevelled and downtrodden Mrs Wilkins, the sad, sweet-faced Mrs Arbuthnot, the formidable widow Mrs Fisher and the ravishing socialite Lady Caroline Dester - are drawn to the shores of the Mediterranean that April. As each, in turn, blossoms in the warmth of the Italian spring and finds their spirits stirring, quite unexpected changes occur. The Enchanted April, published in 1922, is a witty and delightful depiction of what it is like to rediscover joy. 'Brims with magic and laughter' Amanda Craig, Guardian Includes a new introduction by Salley Vickers, author of Miss Garnet's Angel

I love this story so much. Its beautiful and quiet and wonderful. The characters are all older than the typical heroines and the interest comes from hope and beauty rather than drama and conflict. The copy is not great, the type is very very small which is a shame. I love that you can get out-of-print books to order on Amazon but wish they would use standard font sizes (and spell check would be nice).
Elizabeth von Arnim has a delightful way with words. This story is enchanting, indeed. I will read it again when my heart needs therapy.
Loveliest book, so rich and enchanted.
Print was WAY TOO SMALL...couldn't read it.
Content of this book is great of course, but the font is small and print difficult to read. Spend a few extra bucks and get a book that's easier to actually read and doesn't distract you from great writing,

I love the story so ordered two copies of the book for gifts for my friends - was SO disappointed to see the tiny size of the print in this edition which certainly will make the reading much less enjoyable - magnifying glasses may be required.
Wonderful book, terrible edition, looks self-published, print so tiny it's ridiculous. Do not be deceived by nice cover. This seller should be removed from Amazon.
I would recommend this to someone who likes English period literature, This was early 20th cent. and I remembered seeing the film. Though the ending in the book is a little different. This play is on a Shaw this summer 20l3..
