Good resource on how the Southern citizenry experienced the war; it provides firsthand accounts of the war from a variety of sources all along the home front. Although not a big book, it is ample in value.

It's been several years since I read this book, but I remember it as one of my favorites! It's a must read for anyone that considers themselves "a Southerner" or anyone that is open to true stories of the war. In a time when it's not at all "politically correct" to actually be proud of being a Southerner or to look favorably at all on the South, this is a refreshing book for those who couldn't care less about political correctness. If you have any pride at all of the South, you'll love this book. I highly recommend it!!!!!

Briefly gives personal thought and feeling of one who is in a war and the impact the war has on his life, in and out of war. But, overall, too brief to be of research value.
