For Emma, a creation better than a book. xi ― I began writing this book in January 1986, and I fully anticipated its completion within six months. Marcus' "A History of Ethiopia" is a great overview of Ethiopia's history. It is focused more on the modern era, especially the 20th century. Overall I loved the book, and would highly recommend it to those wanting an introduction and overview of Ethiopian history. I also recommend Marcus' other books, especially his biography of Haile Selassie.
