by Erin Dutton

Arson investigation is not exactly what firefighter Kate Chambers signed up for. But she doesn't have a choice when an injury forces her off the engine and into the office. Her first case, a fire at a downtown bar, is a clear-cut instance of insurance fraud, or so she thinks.

I impatiently waited for this book to be published. I have so far bought all of Erin Dutton's books. The first one I read was "Fully Involved" and I found it to be well written, the characters developed; the only thing that was somewhat blah were the love scenes and that was mostly a case of "too little, too late" and even then they weren't quite up to par. Yet, I liked the book anyway and went ahead and bought her other publications. None of them measured to "Fully Involved" and even that one cannot be considered a five star.

In "Point of Ignition" Erin Dutton seems to go on and on and on about the investigation that never seems to move. The Kate Chambers character is a little whinny I'm sorry to say. The book is full of descriptions about fires that are full of abbreviations that unless you have been a firefighter yourself, you'll have no idea what the author is referring to. A description of said abbreviations would have been nice.

In this book, as well as in the afore mentioned one the love scenes are again "too little, too late". Not very good to say the least. They are lack warmth. Not Erin Dutton's best effort, hence my disappointment.
But wasn't this supposed to be a romance? If you peeled off the non-romance elements and storyline, you'd be left with about only 20-30 pages of lame action with no practically chemistry between the lead characters. Sorry to have spent money on this :(
Good read, recommend
Storyline was good overall but plot had several holes and the editor should be fired since the two main characters names kept getting switched up in several instances.
A confusing book, even for a career firefighter! I would have liked to see the "romance" between the two characters and there was none. No hot sex at all. Just a generic read and I was left disappointed.
I have read a few of Erin Dutton's books and I love them all. I could not put this books down from the first page. This is a well written, heartfelt story that makes you fall in love with the characters. I definitely recommend reading it!
This is the first book I have read of Dutton's. I enjoyed it, even though it was not a deep read by
any means.
It was refreshing to read lesbian book with a black protagonist. However, I was highly disappointed that she's an alcoholic. I've read a few other books by this author, granted not all her books, but I don't remember a black protagonist before, nor do I remember any white characters having an addiction problem. It just rubs me the wrong way. I stopped reading when the girl broke sobriety. That's my own beliefs more though. I don't believe AA is the only choice for addicts, nor do I think its a disease, nor do I think once an alcoholic always one. And I can't stand books that have addicts, be it drinking, gambling, or otherwise. So 3 stars for being well written but no idea how it turned out. And while I'm sure the author never even thought about her black character being an addict and other characters who were white weren't, I cant say it didn't rub me the wrong way. And for all I know the books of hers I haven't read have black protagonists that are all positive and some white ones who are addicts or some other stigma that's just as bad.

Just side note: More Than Friends, a book by this author, is really good.
