When local television news anchor Katherine Kyle is thrust into the national spotlight, it sets in motion a chain of events that will change her life forever. Jamison "Jay" Parker is an intensely career-driven Time magazine reporter; she has experienced love once, from afar, and given up on finding it again...That is, until circumstance and an assignment bring her into contact with her past. Kate and Jay's lives intertwine, leading them on a journey to love and happiness, until fate and fame threaten to tear them apart. What is the price of fame? For Kate the cost just might be everything. For Jay, the price could be the other half of her soul.

Okay, so I nearly gave up on this book when I was 1/3 through. I must say, for the price I expected A LOT more. There wasn't much depth or even connection to the characters. They fall in love right at the beginning, and I'm not really sure why. I'm surprised there wasn't more inner dialog at the beginning with the characters. Two women, in a time period when being gay isn't common at all is a perfect set up to have the women wondering if the other is a lesbian. But that doesn't happen, they just dive right it. The author made a good attempt at trying to give the characters personality but didn't do a great job at expressing their emotions.

When I review a book I compare it to some of my favorite authors JAE (Whose books are the same price but MUCH better), MJ Duncan, J.A Armstrong, Harper Bliss (all have books for at least half the price). This book does not really compare to them. I didn't come to love the characters. If books 2-4 were half the price I would read them, but I'm certainly not going to spend $10 a piece ok them if they're like this first book. Just not worth it.
So I have been re-reading Lynn Ames Kate and Jay Series for the second time and since the first time around I wasn't really doing a lot of reviews I decided to do one now. I am not even sure that I can do justice in words to how much I loved these books and characters. Lynn was among one of the first les fic authors I read and her books blew me away on every level. I love a good romance but I need some action and angst and heroics in there too and Lynn deliver on all fronts. Reading Kate and Jay is like visiting old loved friends and I am enjoying the novels even more the second time around it that is even at all possible! The titles in order are The Price of Fame, The Cost of Commitment and The Value of Valor. Please if you haven't read Ames' books yet it is an absolute MUST. Start with these. You can thank me later . ;)
This was not Lynn's best work. It was difficult to differentiate between Kate and Jay's characters especially when they used terms of endearment. It was frustrating to have to backtrack to figure out who was talking at the moment. Disappointed in this book.
Lynn Ames can take you on a great adventure. I loved the storyline of Kate and Jay. Kate being Jays knight in shinning Armor. There were a few times I wanted to punch both of them. But I think these two have become one of my favorite couples. I would definitely recommend this book.
This book has everything in it, romance, a powerful love affair, two strong women, soulmates, full of emotions. I like the flashbacks, it shows how their paths crossed several times. The story left me breathless and I long for more. Wow, what a story!
I really loved reading this book. The love story is special and the love scenes were wonderful. I like the relationships between the different characters that the author has developed. I can't wait to read book too.
This is my fourth reading and each time I still get that sense of love and warmth. We just need more books from my favorite author?.
This book kept me guessing as to what would happen next. I was glad it had a happy ending and true love won out in the end. Would recommend to anyone who like a good love story.
