I have been into various energy healing and alternate health therapies for the last few years. Besides take various on line courses I have read numerous books on these subjects. I recently purchased this 174 page soft cover book (Unwinding the belly: healing with gentle touch by Allison Post and Stephen Cavaliere) and found it to be a unique and interesting approach to dealing with health issues and therapies.

There has been quite a bit of information lately on the importance of stomach issues and the importance of learning to breathe properly for the most benefit. Taoism and other Asian and Indian healing practices have always emphasized breathing and meditation techniques for health. This wonderful and easy to understand book combines light touch techniques in combination with belly breathing methods to improve your overall health.

This book has two parts with a total of seven chapters. The first part (The belly leads the way) consists of the author’s story of her own health issues and what she discovered through her own research. This section also covers intuition, digestion, emotion, movement and other sources of tension. The second part explains in detail the five phases of unwinding. As someone who is into the martial arts and various breathing exercises I found the material in this book very practical and easy to practice.

Anyone who is into the many energy healing and other alternate healing systems may want to get a copy of this book. I found it a great read with practical exercises and healthy suggestions.

I've owned "Unwinding the Belly" for ten years, and it has proven to be the one self-healing book in my library that I return to most often when in crisis. The techniques in this book have taught me how to be gentle with myself, breathe, and let go of chronic tension in my belly -- and my health is dramatically better for it.

The tone of the book is so encouraging, it was something I loved about it right away. I could tell the authors were relaxed, happy people, and I trusted what they had to say. You really can't help but be happy and healthy when you are breathing freely and your belly is soft. Allison says, "When you relearn how to breathe deeply, fully, with freedom, you will reap amazing benefits." I found out she was right!

Allison now has mp3s available so you can hear the techniques spoken to you. They're great! Now I can lie on the floor and let her soothing voice guide me through a relaxing session. You can get them on her website allisonpost dot com.

I have suffered from Irritable bowel syndrome and pain, through most of my life. But, whatever happened I could count on my night sleep to get some relaxation from the pain. However, last few years, quality of my sleep was deteriorating. I bought this book on a hunch, it is a simple book, yet reads intuitively and best of all when I tried some of the basic techniques and I had a good night/dreamless sleep in many months. Thanks to this book, I am beginning to acknowledge and understand my abdomen. This book motivated me to understand more about Chi Nei Tsang and I have started taking some sessions in this healing modality.

I would encourage people to experiment with techniques given in this book....they definitely offer some promise.

I'm not yet an expert on how my belly should feel. :-)

This book gives instructions for meditative belly massages. When I give myself the massages regularly, I feel more energized, my bowels move better, I am less bloated. The massage causes fybroids to bleed a little, so there can be occassional spotting for women.

This book was a cornerstone in a great awakening that I had. Without getting into deep philosophy, I will simply say that this book contains secrets that when humanity has evolved enough to have the capacity to appreciate, we will have an effective tool for managing our own consciousness and all that entails.

@Jodie, this is a book that provides an exercise to physically move through and not information to intellectually ponder... I have found that my thoughts only provide a framework for objectifying reality...they are not the reality I experience. imho

A friend with lots of experience studying these techniques at the Chi Nei Tsang Institute of Berkeley, gave me some sessions. I was surprised to find a book which shows me how to do this for myself. The book explains everything so clearly and presents practical information. "Unwinding the Belly" is a wonderful title for the book. It is easy for me to store some emotional stress of living in today's world in my body, especially my belly. And it is a good way to work with the body and emotions. I can only speak for myself but this book helps me a lot and continues to do so. It deserves every one of the five stars I gave it for excellent quality and simplicity of use. I intend to make these exercises described in the book part of my daily routine.

Loved this book! I highly recommend it to anyone with any belly issues. And the best thing about this massage is that you can do it for yourself!
