Having read and greatly enjoyed many of Janny Wurts' other fantasy novels, I was disappointed with this one. The pacing was a bit off, the characters weren't quite fully fleshed out, and the story seemed to have been cut down on the editing table to fit into this length. I think it would have been better as a trilogy, with some mroe space for the characters and relationships to develop, and with a bit less of the deus ex machina of the entire plot having been set in motion by a Galdalf-like all powerful wizards with no real character development.
Janny Wurt's book are always a wonderful read, I would buy her shopping list as it is sure to be well written. It is always nice to have a strong heroine that takes the lead rather than just as a supporting character. Fast paced page turner that was over far too soon. It seems I am forever waiting for another Janny Wurts book to be released as I have read them all and many, more than once.
What can I say? Janny Wurts' inimical style is very evident in Sorcerer's Legacy. Well-written formal prose, highly dramatic and thought-inducing style, lots of action and great plot. Highly enjoyable afternoon read :-)
There were parts of this that were a little heavy on the Harlequin romance, but it still kept me sucked in. I would be interested in reading more!
This book is just plain enjoyable. It has time travel, magic, prophecy, romance, an evil regent, a handsome prince, a one-in-a-million lady, and a wonderfully unfollowable plot all in the pages of this hidden gem. I've been reading fantasy novels for over 25 years, and how this one slipped past me, I'll never know. This book is really good. Read it if you get the chance.
Cute and like most Janny Wurts unable to put it down. Such a unique premise and an easy read. If you like romance, it'll be your cup of tea.
good but not gripping
one you can read over and over
