Tyler Is Not Here
We are using this as our main text in a Research in Education class. I had low expectations of the book, as other methods books I've seen have been painfully dry and obscure. While I wouldn't call this a page-turner, it is refreshingly user-friendly. It covers a wide variety of quantitative and qualitative methods, going into just enough detail (with well-chosen examples) to give the reader a good basic understanding of each.

It was a great resource to help me through my master's project. There are many great chapters with different information about doing research in education.
