This is my go-to book to look up basic information about any herb I am interested in. It's where I start my medicinal herb research (it's always good to check multiple sources if you're using herbs medicinally), and it is very easy to read and use.

I got this book for a friend for a present, but after going through it, I also bought one for myself. This is a thorough and comprehensive book that includes both culinary and medicinal values of herbs and spices along with growing information and historical notes. The chapters are brief, but present great information.

This is a nice reference book mostly because of the color images of the plants and/or drawings. Most books do not have such clear images that allow you to recognize what you are looking at. I was more interested in the aspect of using herbs medicinally and I am partial to "The Little Herb Encyclopedia" by Jack Ritchason. Although it lacks the images, the information is very in depth and it is a very easy to use and understand reference book.

If you are a beginner in the world of herbs this book is WONDERFUL! I like the addition of instructions on how to use herbs in cooking and how to make decoctions, tinctures, etc. I simply know this stuff already.
This book is one of my favorite reference books. I look through it frequently and am never disappointed. It's a good starting place for learning about the uses of new herbs and spices. The pictures inside are beautiful and it's well-organized. My friends love to borrow it!
