When I first heard of "Frankenweenie", I wasn't exactly fond of the thought of yet ANOTHER "Frankenstein" parody (facepalm/"Enough already!").

But then I looked at the trailer, and I was blown away. It was yet another Tim diamond-in-the-rough; sweet, real, and heart/soul touching.

The same thing happened with both the novelization and the movie, later on. It is now officially one of my Tim Burton top 6: "Edward Scissorhands", "James and the Giant Peach", "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory", "Corpse Bride", "Alice in Wonderland", and last but most certainly not least, "Frankenweenie".

Sparky ranks right up there with Old Dan/Little Ann, Old Yeller, Lassie, Pluto, Toto, and every other literary dog who has proven him/herself to truly be 'man's best friend'.

Victor himself may be intersted in science, but his heart is NOT made of the same material as his tools. "This isn't an experiment; it's my dog." (Side note: he loves classic novels such as 'Phantom' and '20 Thousand Leagues' as well.)

The relationship between Victor and Sparky itself is altogether reminescent of Dorothy Gale and Toto and truly heart-warming; Sparky isn't Victor's 'pet', and Victor is not Sparky's master; they are each other's best friends, Victor is Sparky's boy.

We are shown that it's more than okay for a boy to show his grief and shed tears; we see both of these in the movie.

Things that I DISlike:
Victor Frankenstein and Elsa Van Helsing DO NOT have a crush on each other!
Edgar, Weird Girl, and Mr. Whiskers are cre-epy to the NTH degree!

My granddaughter is a big fan of Tim Burton; she can resite all the lines in his movies. I gave her the book a week after the release of the movie she and I went to see in 3D! She is a writer herself and loves to read. She is 10 years old and is on an eight grade reading level. The book is around a fifth grade reading level which she finished the book within 2 hours. She enjoyed it.

I liked the book because of the action and adventure from the love between a boy and his dog with a struck of jealousy hit when E had found out Sparky was alive and then four monsters emerged from the darkness and its just like being in the movie and its really awesome and amazing. That is why it gets the five star rating.

This book was amazing. I say that because the book was very interesting and terrific. When I started reading it I didn't want to put it down.

I got a copy of this book from a friend who knows I love zombies. It was for my daughter but I haven't given it up yet. I read it once and fell in love LOVE LOVE with the style of writing and the way I can see the book unfold as I read. It's easy to read without being an easy reader. Its a fabulous ADULT read, too! I read it twice overall. I normally read Terry Goodkind or Stephen King because I love a thrill. This book made me exited, sad (I wanted to cry once), nervous, I FELT LIKE A KID only a kid with an awesome book!

This young Frankenstein (yes that's him!)of the modern era has something happen that changes his young life. With a grievous loss he finds that life can be...harnessed...controlled. But what if that power and knowledge of science fell into the wrong hands?

Well, it does. You want to see what craziness ensues? What else can be brought to life and at what consequence?

So, a wonderfully easy read but delightfully gripping. Sparkysaurus, I love you, too.

Such a fun and quick read. I read it in two short sittings. I absolutely love this story!

The edition I read had black paper with white text, which was really interesting! Though it was slightly hard to read in dim rooms. So just make sure you had adequate lighting when you pick this one up.
