We have been reading through this story Bible, one story a day, for several months. It is easy to read, and we are really enjoying it. However, it would seem that the "updated edition" included deleting parts of several of the stories from the original printing. I only say this because at the end of the Bible are comprehension questions for each of the stories. I have noticed that many times there will be one question about something that was not related in the story at all. It is in the Bible, but not in the retelling presented in this story Bible. I'm disappointed to know that parts of the stories were deleted. I would have purchased an older edition, if I had realized. (You would think they would have deleted the questions corresponding to the parts they deleted. So strange.)
I ordered the book that was said to be from the 1920's but instead was copyright from 1969 Edited by another woman. I want one in which the stories are not changed from the original wording by Elsie E. Egermeier. There is a reason so many are looking for the original wording, being that Egermieir's is closer to the wording in the Bible.
I read this cover to cover before giving it to my great nephew. Wanting to make sure the stories are accurate to the scripture and written with a child's understanding. This book more than met my expectations. Very thankful to find it.
This is the 6th copy of the Egermeir's Bible Story book I have purchased. Our first copy, 1983, was a paperback edition that we read each day to our kids. We replaced that with a hardcover edition after a couple of years. We have given copies as gifts and now we have given them to our grand children. We love how Biblically accurate these stories are. Several times we thought we found discrepancies, but when we reread the story from the Bible, we learned that Egermeir's was correct. Many Bible story books try to be cute or just have charming pictures. Many kids are not learning any Bible stories today. Read this with a child you love.
I am a preschool teacher at a Christian school, and I teach Bible every single day. The Bible story books that my school gave me to go with my lessons do not cover NEAR as many stories as I teach about, and I wanted to have a Bible story book to read out of and show pictures from. I did a LOT of searching and found this one - my searching is done! This is a rare story book because it covers so much of the Bible!!! I love it. I know that it is not the Bible and does not replace the Bible as some argue about, but that is why it is called a story book. And yes it adds some comments or even feelings to help you understand the story better, but don't pastors do this when they preach too? I think it is so helpful! I am 24 and I am reading it straight through myself- I am engaged and almost done reading the old testament portion. I love that it tells you exactly where in the Bible it is referencing from, so that at anytime I can read a story both from my Bible and from this book. It is appropriate for children as well as adults who would like a simple read, it covers so many stories from the Bible, includes Bible references... I think it is the best for getting a good overview of a majority of the stories in the Bible.
Steel balls
This is a book that I have read and had read to me many times. It is the Bible Story Book that my parents read to me before I was old enough to read, and I continued to read the wonderful Bible stories on my own for many years. I purchased a copy for my child and each of my grand children as well as the children of many of my relatives. The stories are presented in language that is easy for children to understand, and is exciting for them to hear and read. The only way to really appreciate this book is to read it aloud with children, listen to their questions and comments, and share with them the great stories of the Bible. To say the least, I highly reccommend this wonderful book.
Best children's bible! We have loved reading this as a family each night. This bible includes much more content than most little kids bibles (not just limited to the typical stories). The translation and presentation to a young audience is solid. The occasional pictures are great too -- not cartoony, more true to real life. We highly recommend this bible to families!
Great condition on the used book that I purchased.

I love this Bible Story book! It has so many stories from the bible and is so easy to understand but still interesting enough for older kids!
